The Exorcist: Believer – Movies Review

Friendly Review: The Exorcist: Believer

Dude, I totally get your frustration! It’s rough when a director keeps making horror films that just don’t hit the mark. Four chances and still no success? That’s a bummer. I was actually into the first 40 minutes of Believer, with David Gordon Green’s restrained direction and the methodical introduction of the plot. The editing had me on edge too. But then, it takes a nosedive into generic territory and keeps spiraling downward for the rest of the film. The only saving grace is the earnest performances. Ellen Burstyn’s character, Chris MacNeil, is brought back after 50 years, only to be completely undermined and forgotten. It’s like she learned nothing from the original film. And yeah, the other characters lack the depth and courage of the 1973 classic. They feel like empty shells, and it becomes more apparent as the story progresses. The climax? Totally incoherent in every way. Thematically, tonally, narratively, it’s all over the place. And those heavy-handed musical cues? Not earning any of the intended emotions. While it may not be as bad as Exorcist II or Exorcist: The Beginning, it’s still pretty disappointing. I’m with you, man. It’s baffling how the same filmmaker keeps churning out movies without any coherence or thought. Let’s hope for better horror films in the future!

Dude, I feel you! It’s such a letdown when a movie tries to live up to a classic and falls flat. I tried to give it a chance too, but after just 10 minutes, I had a sinking feeling that it was gonna be a total dud. And guess what? I was right. The worst part is, it’s supposed to be a horror flick, but it’s not even scary. Like, not even for a single minute. It’s just a bit freaky and strange, but where’s the actual fear factor? That’s what we sign up for with horror movies, right? And let’s not forget, Ellen Burstyn was amazing, but the other actors didn’t really impress me. The possessed kids were okay, but the rest of the cast was just plain average or even below. It’s a real slap in the face to the original from ’73, which was an absolute shocker of a classic. We deserve better, man!
