The Killer – Movie Review

Friendly Review: The Killer

I totally get what you’re saying about David Fincher. He’s such an amazing director! Even if a movie like Mank doesn’t hit you emotionally, you can still appreciate his vision and what he’s trying to convey. 👌

I agree with you that sometimes great movies like The Killer can end up being underrated, especially when they go to Netflix. They create buzz for a short while, and then they get lost in the sea of content. It’s a shame because even thought-provoking films like Blonde from 2022 can fade away from conversations.

The name might be generic, but I think it could be part of the film’s commentary. I love how it’s narratively simple yet tense and entertaining. And there’s definitely more going on beneath the surface. It explores themes that Fincher has touched on throughout his career. It may be different from Fight Club visually, but thematically, it feels reminiscent. And stylistically, it’s right up his alley. It’s like a precise and calculated filmmaker taking on a story about a precise and calculated assassin. It’s so cool to see that!

I’m glad you got to see it in a cinema. It can be easier to get immersed in the deliberate pacing and quieter moments when you’re in a theater. And the use of sound and music must have been fantastic, especially with the cinema’s sound system amplifying the experience.
