I watched the movie without any preconceived notions, and I have to say, my first impressions were just okay. The portrayal of Elvis seemed a bit off, lacking that charisma we all know and love. And Jacob’s mumbling made it hard to catch his dialogue. 🙈
I couldn’t help but compare it to Baz’s portrayal of Elvis, where Austin really poured his heart and soul into the character. You could feel his love for Elvis shining through. In this movie, it felt like Jacob had little interest in truly understanding who Elvis was, and that was a letdown. 😕
The way the negative aspects from the book were presented felt a bit disjointed, like individual scenes without much context. The character development for both Priscilla and Elvis felt lacking, and it was hard to connect with them emotionally. And the other characters didn’t have much significance either. It just felt rushed and not well put together. 😔
I went with another Elvis fan, and we both left the cinema feeling a bit disappointed. I had hoped for a more positive experience, but it left me feeling cold and shallow. I understand that the movie is called Priscilla, but as a representation of Elvis, one of the most significant cultural figures of the 20th century, it fell short for me. That’s why I’m even more grateful to Baz, Austin, and the whole team for doing Elvis justice in my opinion. 🙌
Maybe others will have a different perspective and view it more positively? What do you think?
